Our Story

HOW WE BEGAN

Nathalie Schubert and Kristin Redaelli met in 2020 and instantly connected over a shared aesthetic—design, art, and the hunt for beautifully aged pieces. In 2024, they launched Niche Studio—a natural extension of Nathalie’s interior design practice.

After they both moved from NYC to Connecticut, they found the area lacked the curated fabrics and design materials they loved. Niche Studio bridges that gap with bespoke pieces defined by bold materials and refined trims, crafted in collaboration with Darien Upholstery in Darien, CT.

NATHALIE SCHUBERT, CO-FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

Nathalie is a Connecticut-based interior designer with roots in the mountains of North Carolina. Before founding her practice, she spent ten years at Katie Ridder Design and completed a graduate program at Sotheby’s Auction House focused on American Arts. These experiences sharpened her eye for detail and deepened her love of creating thoughtful, layered interiors.

Raised among art and nature, Nathalie brings a natural sense of warmth and balance to her work. She especially values collaborating with clients to uncover the beauty in their homes, believing that attention to even the smallest spaces allows the heart of a home to shine. Nathalie lives in New Canaan with her husband and three young children.

KRISTIN REDAELLI, CO-FOUNDER, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Kristin began her career in finance, working in both London and New York City, where she led a client service team at a major hedge fund before co-launching a firm in the Exchange Traded Funds space. After settling into a quieter life with her husband and four children, she found herself returning to her longtime passions—design, antiques, architecture, and art.

As these interests took center stage, Kristin stepped away from Wall Street and joined her close friend, Nathalie Schubert, to co-found Niche Studio. She brings a cultivated eye, a love of craftsmanship, and an intuitive sense of home to each project she touches.
